The phone is great! Go to the AT&T store to try it out. Then come to Amazon to purchase. I was eligable for an upgrade and did it all thru Amazon. I purchased the phone on a Tuesday night, received the phone Friday. All I had to do was insert the SIM card and call AT&T to activate. I was charged the usual $18 upgrade fee and paid literally $.01 for the phone from Amazon. And I was NOT required to sign up for the monthly media service like you have to do if purchased thru AT&T. Amazon saved me over $100 and I couldn't be happier with the phone.
A few details: The phone has some weight to it. To me it feels solid and not flimsey. The slide out qwerty keyboard has nice size buttons. I personally use the touch screen for all of my needs. I text, dial, access menu and pretty much everything else from the touch screen. It's nice to have the option to dial from the large touch screen numbers versus the smaller qwerty numbers. The sound quality of the speakerphone was a big requirement for me. I do most all my talking thru speakerphone. And I have not had any problems hearing people and I even ask them if they hear me alright. No complaints as of yet. The Flight is fun to play with and not at all difficult to figure out. The battery lasted a full 3 days, and that was with me playing with it a lot the first 2 days and entering in all my contact info. I was am pleased with the battery life. I do not use the internet services so I cannot comment on that.
In conclusion, the Flight should definatly be on your short list of possibilities. And most importantly, which ever phone you choose, make sure it's one from Amazon. (Much better price)

This is not a phone for all of the very technical people out there. This is no Iphone; this is no Blackberry. So don't get depressed when you purchase one and then complain that it is too basic. This phone is basic, but has great features for those who don't need all of the apps and ability of an Iphone. The camera is great, with 2 megapixels and a wide variety of features. Messaging is easy. The touch screen is nice.
So like I said, if you want a pretty good phone, with a pretty good camera, touch screen, and good messaging ability, this is the phone for you.

I have been using this phone for a little over a month now. So far I love everything about it except 2 things:
Firstly, the touch screen can be a pain while trying to talk. My cheek often turns mute on or hits the button to disconnect the call. While this is expected with a touchscreen, it would have been a little smarter in my opinion to make those buttons slide like many of the other ones they have on the touch screen.
Secondly, the headphone/power jack is a micro usb port. This is would inconsequential if SOMEONE, (ie Samsung, the retail stores, a vendor, etc.) would carry a micro USB to stereo headphone adapter for this phone, but don't expect your retailer go much further than telling you "We don't carry adapters designed for that phone". Samsung does offer a set of headphones designed specifically for this phone but the sound quality is quite poor and the headphones themselves prove uncomfortable.
You can buy adapters that fit that are designed for other products, but for the alot consumers, the ambiguity Samsung creates by failing to provide an adapter specific to this device just incites confusion and frustration.
Again, other than these two issues, the phone has been great.

This phone is so close to what I want it to be it makes me mad that it isn't there. I am a user who would like his cell phone to do more than just make phone calls, but I do not use data. Since AT&T requires every "smartphone" user to have the expensive data plan, I thought the Flight would do the trick, despite not having Wi-Fi.
The manual from the Samsung website says you can connect it to your PC via USB in 3 ways: mass storage, media player, or with Samsung's PC studio. After 12.5 hours of work, my home computer finally recognizes the phone as both a mass storage and media player device. No PC Studio is offered for this phone, and after several more hours of work, my laptop still does not recognize it. This despite an included CD-ROM that says it contains USB drivers. No such luck. The disk only has a flash player file that links to the Samsung support page for the phone which has no such drivers, only a manual.
Samsung has admitted to me in an e-mail that they do not offer USB support for this phone, which is strange since marketing materials, the phone's manual, and included documentation all refer to its USB connectivity.
I am not an expert with either computers or cell phones, but I am certainly an experienced user with both. All I want to do is sync some contacts and calendar functions. This certainly seems like something the phone was designed for, there is just no software support.
Other than that, the phone is great. It has a nice feel. I'm 6'4'' with big thumbs and have no problems with the keys, except for the top row, and that only when I have the slider case I purchased separately attached. The touch screen is responsive, although it scrolls "upside down" from what I want to. I'd rather it move a page like the touchpad on my laptop scrolls a page. But, I'll get used to that. I'm not one who spends all day texting, but I do use the phone for this and have been happy with it. An avid texter might have something different to say about the phone, but it fit me right out of the box.
The speakerphone is adequate, if a little soft for use as an MP3 player. I tried the browser and it worked fine for what the phone is able to do, but I won't use this feature much. I have yet to connect a bluetooth device to the phone, although it is supposed to have the latest in bluetooth technology.
All AT&T phones have bloatware and the games are only demos. Whatever happened to free games on cell phones? The menu structure on this is a bit different from previous phones I've used and the touchscreen interface complicates the menu choices. Sometimes I think I need to hit an actual button when the touchscreen is waiting for a command. For example, from some menus the call button initiates a call to a contact, but from other menus, like when you are looking at your favorite contacts, you can only call by using the touchscreen. Again, this is just a quirk of the phone to get used to.
The camera is an improvement over the one on my previous Samsung phone (SYNC sgh-a707), but does not include a flash.
As for call quality, it has been great for both reception and transmission. Nothing has dropped on me yet, even in spots that previous phones always lost signal.
So, if all you want is a great phone, with a great feel, that looks pretty sleek, despite its somewhat larger size, and a full keyboard, this is the phone for you. Just don't ever have a problem that requires Samsung support. I wish the phone had Wi-Fi, as I'm almost always in range of a network, but I knew going in that it didn't. The only phones that do require a plan I don't want, as I'm locked into AT&T for various reasons. Since Wi-Fi wasn't an option, one of the selling points of this phone was its USB connectivity, which come to find out is virtually non-existent. I'm torn at the moment about returning this phone because it is everything I want, otherwise. I suppose I'm not the typical cell-phone user, but I do think I'm a typical customer in wanting and expecting a product to do what it is advertised to do.
